Desmo Due an Overview

The Desmo Due Championship so far has been run in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and now again in 2012 this time with an extra Class added

What is it all about? What are its Aims?

Originally aimed at Members of the Ducati Sporting Club and other Ducati owners who wanted to move on from doing Trackdays
To provide Low cost budget racing and to provide an entry level class for those wishing to take up racing for the first time as well as a way for Ex racers to return to racing after being away from the sport for several years
For the past 7 years Classes A and B have fulfilled these requirements and seen a couple of the riders progress to a National Series

2012 sees the introduction of Class 1C, designed to run alongside Hottrax Motorsport’s Modern Classic Superbike Championships as well as providing a Championship for Desmo Due Class A and B riders to progress to

CLASS A AND B
· Based on the Ducati Monster and Supersport 600 and 620 range
· The grid is split into 2 classes
· Class B for the 583cc Carburettor models offering Entry level racing
· Class A for the 618cc Injected models offering a step up from Class B
· 3 races each weekend including qualifying and warm up etc
· Class A and B are well established with 7 seasons completed
· A designated control tyre is used across both Class A and Class B
· Tyre warmers and Wets are NOT allowed
· Novices are welcome in either class

CLASS 1C
· NEW for 2012! Class 1C is a new class for older large capacity Ducati twins such as the 748/916/996. Slicks and wets ARE allowed for Class 1C only along with tyre warmers.
· Bikes are around 10 years old of more
· Novice are not eligible

What do you get?

1. You get 7 rounds over 2 days at some of the best circuits in the UK
2. You get long distance racing and 3 races per weekend together with timed practice and warm ups
3. Trophies for top 3 are given at each event and at the end of the year.
4. Novices are eligible for class A and B but not Class 1C

What does it cost?

1. Ducati Sporting Club membership is £25 for the year
2. Desmo Due registration and race number allocation is £20 for the season
3. Hottrax Motorsport Club membership is £30 for the year
4. Race entries are all around £220 per round

What are the rules for the New Class 1C?

1. Eligibility for the Championships will be restricted to any Intermediate, Clubman, Clubman or National ACU licence holders. Other licence eligibility is on application to the club. First time or Novice licence holders are not eligible
2. Weight limit is 165kg for 4 valve and 150kg for 2 valve bikes
3. Machine Specifications
4. The motorcycle must be based on either a water cooled Ducati twin cylinder motorcycle with 4 valves per cylinder produced between 1988 and March 2002 or an air-cooled 2 valve Ducati twin cylinder produced between 1992 and March 2005, displacing no more than 997cc.
5. The machines used are allowed limited modifications. Most modifications are only allowed for safety reasons or to allow older generations of the Desmo family of motorcycles to remain competitive with the newer machines.
6. For the avoidance of doubt the following production machines will be entitled to enter the series:

The 4-Valve bikes
1. 748: - Any model with the exception of the 748RS
2. 851: - Any production model
3. 888: - Any production model
4. 916: - Any model with the exception of 916 Racing and SPS
5. 996: - Any model with the exception of SPS, R & RS

If there are enough entries of the following bikes we may run a separate class

The 2-Valve bikes
1. 748 & 904 cc single spark engine SS & Monster, including both carburettor and injection models.
2. 803cc single spark SS & Monster manufactured prior to March 2008.
3. 992 twin spark engine SS, Monster & Multistrada manufactured prior to March 2005
