Exhaust Joint sealant-Recommendation

I removed my exhaust to get it polished, the last time I did this one of the joints did not seal despite re using the factory gaskets, can anyone recommend a sealant to use on the joints and gaskets?

Mood: happy bike passed MOT
used something before but can't for the life of me remember what it was called came in a tube and was an orange colour bit like silicone sealant but heat proof.(halfrauds again)

although its for cars you could try Firegum from halfrauds etc it is flexible but does expand so you would need very little.
for downpipe connections i have always been told a little copaslip on the joint should be sufficient

Hi Martin,

Any high temp exhaust sealant will work on the manifold to head joint.

As for the rest of the system, you can use sealant on the slip joints but be warned, it makes them a right pig to get apart again in the future. As long as the springs are good, they generally reseal themselves fairly quickly with carbon build up from use.

Cheers, Neil.
