I was informed by somone that the shims needed checking at 7500 miles, I needed to book it in as the Ohlins fork seals had gone on the RH side, plus it was not running well as I thought due to the Db killers.
Turns out the rockers & camshafts need replacing
The thing is dealer have been on to Ducati who are not interested, possibly because it has not been serviced correctly or as it is 2 months out of the 24 months warranty.
Dissapointed does not really cover it. Checked with the dealer who confirms it has been serviced in accordance although it appears there is a discrepancy to what is listed in the owners manual and that in the service book. This being the issue between time and mileage and each activity. I had it serviced at 4820 miles at 21 months, this included belts and as far as I was concerned all 24 month activities as per the owners manual including clearances.
Apparantly not all of the activities are completed due to this discrepancy but effectively that means you are running two service intervals..one for mileage and one for time which does not make sense to me and given that is what I do for a living albeit for trucks
As the mileage is now 8135 it is over the mileage but within what I believe to be reasonable and an industry standard of +- 10% tolerance. This should rule out not being serviced in accordance with manufacturers reccomend intervals.
Action - I will now write to Ducati and seek some form of sympathetic warranty. Any similar events/outcomes or advice gratefully received.
