Marchesini - damage check...

Can you get a mag wheel checked over for possible damage?

After Lily's off the front tyre was flat, no sign of damage to the wheel, and a rip in the tyre, but can they be x-rayed etc and checked for stress or cracks as it did hit another bike.

Anyone got contact details, price etc

Cheers

I think that Dymag might offer this service?

JPM 05-Sep-2005 13:43

Tim that's who are top of the list as I know they refinish mag wheels

Felix 05-Sep-2005 14:02

Your list is complete, Jon. That's the only place I'd send them to. Piece of mind and all that.

Can be checked by High Frequency Eddy Current NDT...
Alternatively, Fluorescent Dye Penetrant NDT can be used.
An engineering shop may be able to help.
Alternatively, hang around at Heathrow outside the BA/Virgin Engineering Hangars and ask nicely........:sing::sing:

NDT should be carried out after annealing, restraightening, reheat treating/stress relieving.

My folks neighbour works for a Non Destructive Testing firm, I could ask him if they can check the wheel over if you want ?

Drop us a U2U if interested.

Rich.

Did anyone get anywhere with this thread?

I've just emailed Dymag to ask them myself.

Frank, not at my end yet, but we took the wheel off at the weekend and there's a dink in the rim, I doubt being magnesium it will be road worthy.

JHP have the bike now and I asked if they could get the wheel checked, but they didn't seem too hopeful either:puzzled:
