Rear Shock Q

Is there a difference in the 996R/998R rear shock or is it the same Ohlins unit across the range
I am thinking of getting my 998bp Ohlins revlved to suit the revalved front but am also hoping to change to one of the above bikes & am wondering if it would be better to keep the revalve shock & swop it it for the new bikes shock

Hope that maked sense !

Dont forget that the spring rate is different!

Totto 28-Apr-2005 18:40

Is that just down to the fact that both of the bikes are mono only ?

Yup

Just found out the 996R/998/998S all have the same part number for the rear shock !
Not got any info on the 998R yet !

The mono's appear to have a lighter spring but the preload in theory should be the same as the spring is the same length , if there was much more preload on a lighter spring then that would indicate that a heavier spring is needed !

Just phoned K-tech about getting my rear shock re-valved & they said not to bother ,after telling them my riding traits they said the std shock should be up to the job no problem .

They then gave me some set up suggestions , which i have tried today (thur) and the bike is much better

Hows that for customer service (yet again) :D:D:D
