ARE WASHERS NEEDED WITH OIL FILTER ON A 998S

I bought some oil filters for my 998s mail order and I was sent a packet of washers with them (part number 78710091a) they are about 2 cm across.

Has any one got any idea where they go. The only washers I can think of that might be needed is the oil sump washer but these look way too big.

The oil filters they sent were part number 44440034a, is this the right one ?

One might be for the sludge filter

It sounds like the washers you received are for the 996 748 motor. The 998 has a washer for the sump plug around 12mm diameter. You should replace the washer each time you remove the sump plug.
Good Luck

Sump plug washer should be copper in which case it can be re-used if annealed first.

Clean washer thoroughly with petrol, and when dry, heat to cherry red - I use the cooker - when cherry red, dump it straight into cold water, dry off and it can be used again and again.

I would only suggest this if you no have a new washer by the way......:sing:
