Do you rate the Michelin POWER 1

Probably a bit early to start considering as winter closes in, but im thinking of purchasing the new Michelin POWER 1 tyres. They look like "Cut Slicks".

Has anyone out there fitted them? and if so, do you rate them. Im thinking of a nice dry road not winter in the UK stuff.

Thanks

I can't comment on the latest Michelin's, but I've been pretty impressed with my Pirelli Diablo Corsa III's. Stable and with a more than respectable rate of wear.

Temperatures across the last summer were pretty poor, so I doubt that (personally) I would've gained any real benefits here (Scotland) from a softer(?) compound tyre, or at least a tyre that would be 'optimal' at a higher operating temperature*.

*I say this, as I (could quite wrongly be) assume that any 'near-slick' tyre is going to be designed for fast road/track day use, where operating temperatures are higher, yes?

Rattlers used these endurance racing I think - pm him for a view

I think the views from others was really good but they wear quickly...

Im asking as the tyres will be used on a trip to Spain in the summer. Just wondering if these were the best to go for?

the power ones are sticky, very sticky, but wear very quickly, just a pointer, if you go for these michelin recommend 33psi when WARM not cold.
Personally i'd go for the corsa 3's if you are doing distance and the super corsa pro SC2 if you are doing very fast road/trackday

I found these to be excellent tyres and wear rate was pretty good also, did the endurance race and 2 trackdays afterwards on the R6.

As for pressures, the rear runs very low, about 22.5 (IIRC) cold and 28 cold for the front??? There was a Michelin Moto GP tyre technician at the Endurance round and he advised us on this and was also checking our tyre temps after track sessions etc.

I'd normally just run Supercorsas, but was just as happy with these. I'd advise the use of the V profile front too, helps quicken the turn in, but restricts front mudguard clearance for tyre warmers!!!

We are going to run them all next year - primarily because we like them and secondarily because there's prize money for us running them (if (when!!) we win ;)
