Most expensive 888?

Well. the ex-Fogarty Moto Cinelli 888 sold this weekend, but it didn't bring what they were expecting.

Still that's a lot of money for an 888. Makes me wonder what I could get for my bike.

Hmm, the wife and I where talking about this yesterday. Couldn't really agree if owning a piece like this was something we'd really want or not. £20,000 would buy me an RC30, a Bimota DB2 and an SP4. All of which I would love and ride.

Now where's that copy of bike trader;)

Brian,

Do you ride/race your's at all?

I have had it out for a trackday. It was fun to ride, but at anything over 3/4 throttle the bars would wag back and forth down the straightaway. I spent about 1/2 the day making suspension adjustments try to put more weight on the front end, but they made no difference. Finally I just cranked the steering damper up and that fixed the wag.

I haven't raced it for a couple of reasons. First there are no classes in the USA that it would be competitive in. It's too new for any type of vintage racing and too old for modern club racing. At this point it's pretty valuable/historic, and the thought of binning it and damaging any unobtanium parts is just too much to bear.

When they bring out a class for old geesers that want to cruise around at a moderate pace and not bash fairings, I'll be the first to sign up.
