power comander

Hi all,
Has anyone fitted a power comander to a 749 if so does it improve the running.

i've got a PCIIIusb on my 749s - although this was fitted to fettle the termi system. The unit is so versatile you're bound to get an improvement in performance by fitting one and gettnig it set up properly (reccommend PDQ in Taplow nr. maidenhead)

SIMON (Chippy) this is how to improve the running of your 749

SIMON this is how to improve the running of your 749

1. Arrange to bring bike over to fellow DSC member’s work place on Saturday morning
2. Ride Bike over to Fox's with the fast idle lever set in such a position to keep the bike ticking over,
3. meet up with me and then follow me to Senna3's work place.
4. Have a coffee and a mince pie.
5. Remove fairing panels from 749 and locate diagnostic socket.

skidlids 19-Dec-2004 22:58

6. Connect diagnostic socket to the Examiner diagnostic computer.
7. Tell the diagnostic computer it is talking to a 1999 Fiat Punto non-UK model

skidlids 19-Dec-2004 23:07

8. Watch diagnostic operator scratch his head as he stares in wonderment at the figures generated
9. Produce figures from recent first service so trained mechanics be amazed at how rich the bike is running.

skidlids 19-Dec-2004 23:11

10. Have me phone Nelly at Cornerspeed for some info
11. Decide on a course of action
12. Remove tank and seat unit
13. Remove mirrors and the remaining top part of the fairing
14. Spend best part of the next hour cursing while removing the 749s airbox lid., which included removing steering damper and ignition switch
15. Have it pointed out to you that a rubber blanking piece is missing from the lhs of the airbox lower half
16. Adjust throttle stop screw by ¾ of a turn to open butterflies by a small amount
17. Refit airbox lid leaving out the 3 impossible to get at front screws
18. Refit tank and seat unit
19. Start bike and let it idle
20. Have another cup of coffee as the bike warms up
21. Look happy as bike idles smoothly around 1250rpm
22. Remake connection to diagnostic PC and see improved figures
23. Connect to gas analyser and see vastly improved figures compared to those from first service, both CO and HC's
24. Refit remaing parts of fairing etc
25. Put the 3 left out on purpose airbox screws in your pocket

Sorry about the picture quality I only had my phone with me

So thats how Senna3, Chippy and myself spent Saturday. If either of you think I have omitted anything feel free to add your own comments.
Especially your view Simon on before and after.

Sorry we didn't get up to Nelly's to help send Mort on his way.

Those screw are unbeleivable, I put them back in so that the dealer gets to remove them at the next service, why should I have all the fun
