Pillions on a monster ?

Need to get a second bike for two up riding and commuting, Whats the monster like for pillions. Will be using for going to race meets and rides out on etc when the bird wants to come, not touring only about 150 miles or so on a ride out.

some love it - most dont!

Not the most comfortable seat to pillion on, might be worth sourcing a Corbin seat, as much more comfy.

My daughter (5ft & 7 stone) has pillioned on odd occasions in the past with me, and said she would have been more comfy on a 748/R1 or similar:o as 'numb bum' set in after about 50 miles or so - otherwise was ok for the short trips.
That said, one of the guys in the UKMOC takes his bird on the back over some long disances (200 milers) & she seems quite happy:)

Also somewhat depends on the "size of the bum" as the pillion portion of the seat is not very wide. As Chalotte says, look for a Corbin seat.

Sargent also do one, but I don't reckon it looks any better from a pillion point of view

Does look very nice though.

5ft 6" tall and a size 10 bum. :D

Do like the look of the corbin seat has anyone tried this seat?

do want to stick to a ducati rather than a jap bike not got much choice other than a st *. not interested in a multistrada, carn't put her on top off the 996 that wouldn't be fair really, any suggestions welcome.

Dare I suggest my S4R thats for sale? That way you get to have fun too if you get some time on it solo.

Mello-Yellow 14-Apr-2005 18:16

you may dare suggest gizmo sir, nice idea but not one i could take you up on at the mo, not unless you want to take a gsx-r 600 k1 track bike in p/x,owned from new, good nick, straight, even got some off the original panels aswell. etc etc.

Bike is currently for sale in Moto Rapido (as well as on this forum obviously) - you never know!

Can't say I've ever been pillion on a Monster, but I have pillioned ten + thousand miles on a 916, including day-trips to SW Ireland and Assen, and I'm definitely not size 10. 150 miles is fine, much more than that gets a bit uncomfy. Has she tried spending time on your 996? If not, get a pillion-pal belt, ignore the funny looks you get in petrol stations and off you go.

Half hour tops - then gets too painful. I bought my own bike instead.

Did 400 miles in a few days last summer with the wife and she was fine..mind you...she was used to a 916 before that !!
