chain and sprokets
 

hi guys i think i am going to put a new chain and sproket set on since the backend is in bits and it seems daft not to and i have my douts about the chain that is on ( the link looks like it has been hamered down with a hamer) i have looked at past thread and it looks like 15 front 39 rear is the prefered ??
i really want a gold couloured chain to match in with the scheme of the bike, dose anybody have any sujestions before i start to phone around on monday!!

Yes. Look no further than a Tsubaki chain - I think mine is the X ring gold (can't quite remember TBH - well it's one of the pricier ones anyhow) and I got mine from B&C express who I would also recomend for fuss free next day delivery. I'm running standard gearing 15f 37r and I think (from feeble memory again) that it was 97 links - you might need an extra link for the bigger sprocket

Another vote for a Tsubaki X-ring gold chain and renthal sprockets from B&C Express, I've not managed to find a better deal, and believe me I've tried!!!

Tsubaki chain,Renthal sprockets.Bought mine from Cornerspeed,good price and Neil joined the chain ready to fit.

i run 15/39 with a D.I.D chain, renthal front sprocket and ducati performance alloy rear sprocket. this set up has been on for 10000 klms and i rarely adjust it. lube it plenty though.

I went the renthal alloy back sprocket way last C&S swap. It lasted 2000kms and a track day then was goosed.
Goosed, like it had busted off teeth and the rest worn to a point! The chain was aligned properly too and the sprocket was the correct fitment for a 520 x-type chain. Chain doesn't have any tight spot in it and is still on the bike. Front sprocket not worn at all.
It might have been a duff cast but I'm back on steel back sprockets now, stuff the weight saving.

Funny that, cos I've got brand new steel sprockets on the T8, but I've had a renthal alloy one along with another Tsubaki (albeit 525) on my ST2 for 15K miles now and they're still looking good. Anybody who's ridden an ST2 will know that they've got loads of low down grunt that you would think would punish chains and sprockets.

Mind you, I find that the life span of these things seems inversely exponential (If that makes sense), in other words they seem fine for ages then die very suddenly...I find Pirelli Diablos are like that as well and lull you into a false sense of security. They get to about 3000-3500 miles and you think "Blimey, these are wearing well, got another 2K in these at least" then you go for a 200 mile ride out and they're knackered when you come back.
