43bhp

hello, just had my bike dyno'd 43bhp,,, is that good? I'm told that better ignition modules will make it more, does anyone know? apart from that its all good (i think) what do other people have, do you know?

Matt
p.s. I'm really really looking forward to donington!!

43bhp is very low, the limit for class B is 53bhp

As for igniters, how will they improve things unless they alter the advance and if they alter it by a few to many degrees it would make them illegal

1.6.31 Ignition/Engine Control System

Ignition/engine control system (Ignitors) may be changed. Any alteration that allows the number of degrees of spark advance beyond the manufacturers standard specification is not allowed.

Have you had the cam timing checked, they can be along way out when they left the factory

IIRC 48-50 at the real wheel is par for the course on a Class B bike.

Dynos can vary a bit though and there are a lot of things that can affect the real wheel horsepower other than how good the engine is.

Was the dyno operator happy that is as good as the engine can manage. Did they give any feedback on the fuelling?

You'll find out for sure if you are down on HP on the long journery to the first corner. :D

Mine is running std ignitors at 52bhp, As Kev has said I would get the cam timing checked out, Mind it would have thought it would have to be a fair way out to lose circa 20% HP
What spec is the motor?? Airbox, Pipe,Jetting Etc
As has been said what is the fueling like on the dyno sheet, I think you need to scan and post it up here.

here is a pic from the worst track day I have ever done, it peeeed down all day it was wet, i was cold, loads of people crashed, I lost all confidence after going across the grass at 100mph and everyone was faster than me, (apart from the green gsxr) and the DD broke down on the strait and I had to be rescued and I took my kettle but forgot the tea bags! so I went home early... apart from that it was a good day!

That was the last time I rode the bike and I don't plan on riding it before donington.

so I'm in the right mindset :)

good picture though!

Ignition igniters, defo. I had mine dyno'd last year 42 bhp but also running rich. I raced it like this untill I tried a new set of igniters. What a difference!! The old ones were not advancing. Also one had black potting and one had blue potting.

Some peeps are using the DP AL9000 units.

Go to a better Dyno and get that Fueling sorted that looks Horrific
