Thats quite an open ended quote isnt it.
That crank design started life in the pantah engines ... and must be in the f1, 906, 907, 851, 888.
Why have we never heard of the problem ?
Was it used _starting_ from a particular year too ?

It happened to my '92 851 around 20k miles.
While the motor was being rebuilt by Baines Racing they had a '93 888 come in with the same prob,oddly with roughly the same milage on the clock.

Hmmmm....Food for thought.

I don't know whether the plug on my bike is ally or steel, being registered in June 2001 probably means that the bike was built in early 2001 or more likely in late 2000.

So, probably ally then. Something else to watch out for...not that my bike ever gets thrashed or anything :lol:

I thought the crank plug problem was fairly widely known. I believe this is what did for my first 748 BP. Expensive to fix.

Yeh, i thought the oil gallery plug was quite well known about. Difficult to do anything about it without a full engine strip.
