BOSTROM 998

ON MY QUEST FOR A NEW BIKE I`VE FOUND A 2002 BOSTROM THATS BEEN RE POSSESED ...£8500

NOW THE CRUNCH....BIKE AND V5 ONLY NO GOODIES LIKE STAND ETC OR WORSE OF ALL NO SERVICE BOOK,,,,,,,,:puzzled:

SOUNDS A GOOD DEAL COMPANY ONLY HAD IT YESTERDAY AND SAID BIKE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS YOU WOULD EXPECT.

I`M IN A QUANDRY GIVE US ADVICE OR A KICK UP THE ASS,;)

you should be able to find out from Ducati if its been serviced at a main dealer as the records are sent back to Ducati (at least I think they are).

Lily has a Bostrom, it was JPM's. So might be worth having a word about what spec it should be.

shouldn't you be catching a ferry;)

ian johnson 03-Jun-2005 10:45

catching ferry in the morning so need as much info as soon as possible.

i was hoping jpm will reply but its the issue of service history and being a repo bike that concerns me..

got a cheque from insurance on the way and i want to spend it.:sing:

Anyway, if it's so cheap why not just get it serviced straight away?
Jobs a good 'un!
If it's been abused previously you should be able to tell by looking at it anyway :)

Ian,

What do you want to know? The Bostrom should come with a stand (blue), cover and a metal plaque in a blue box as part of the package, which I guess will be missing.

Obvious differences are blue frame, blue wheels, Ohlins front and rear and damper, and plaque on the yokes with Bostrom 998S x/155

Price wise, well I'd say a good one from a dealers with service history will be anywhere between 10-12K for a 2002 plate dependent on mileage, so 8.5K doesn't sound bad I guess first thing I'd do would be to get it fully serviced and checked over by someone good though.

As for a bike still the best bike I've owned once set up, although I expect the 999R to take that mantle shortly as the miles pour on.

What else do you want to know?

ian johnson 03-Jun-2005 11:15

its all about history and worry with it being a repo

i know its a cracking bike which deserves to have a good home..

got plaque on headstock all standard body work correct wheels and frame so all looks well from that point..

may have to get up early tom to go and have a look before going to iom.

JPM 03-Jun-2005 11:21

Where is it Ian? If it's between you and me and you need a second opinion I'll be more than willing to pop along if needed.

My only concern would be resale down the line I guess because of it's history take that into consideration and base a decision on that

ian johnson 03-Jun-2005 11:26

bike is in mp motorcycles bradford .
just got reg number si i`m about to e mail ducati uk to see if its got official history..

JPM 03-Jun-2005 11:33

The stand is only the box standard stand just painted the same blue as the frame, so you could get a standard one off Ebay and get it painted I guess.

The cover is unique to the Bostrom red/white/blue with 155 and his signature on also, but I would imagine you could order that from Ducati, you can order the graphics kit so I guess the cover should be available also. As for the plaque and box, well I don't know about that one, each one is unique and engraved with Engine/frame number and corresponding number on the yokes.

Also should have blue grips, forgot that one
