heli coiling engine case

Anyone recommend heli coiling an engine casing. One of my threads that holds the clutch cover and casing to the engine is stripped. I'm going to try a tap to recut the thread later and hope this will work. If not then is a helicoil the only answer.

I've used helicoils for similar jobe in the past on mainly Hondas of Kawasakis, providing there is still going to be enough metal around the outside of the insert there shouldn't be a problem.

Should be fine we use them all the time on F1 cars.
