The Winter weather is still with me, so I'm slowly but surely chipping away with the jobs on the Duc'.

I've finally had to concede that, despite my desire to stick with OE parts, the stock clutch <snip> slave cylinder will need to be replaced. <edit>

I think I've narrowed down my search for a replacement to:

1. JHP (John Hackett Performance) - Expensive, but looks the part and feedback it reportedly very good.

2. Oberon Engineering - A cheaper option, and again people seem to have nothing but praise for the product.

Now, I'm sure there's other options (I doubt very much that a 'Corse' part will turn up...) So where the best (e.g. cheapest / most cost effective) place for buying these? Anyone doing any deals?

I'm also lookin' for a set of front disc mounting bolts. I can't find anyone (perhaps I'm using the wrong search) that lists titanium mounting bolts. Now, the only reason that I'm looking at this (if I'm being honest) is not so much for the weight advantage, but in that they are highly corrosion resistant.

Anyone know of a reliable source for these bolts? I'd rather not buy 'Chinese' parts, for something that's so critical.

Nylon and Alloys: £6.59 each (gulp)

Good qaulity though, better than Pro-Bolt who also do Ducati disk bolts.

Clutch - assume you mean clutch slave (down near the front sprocket) rather than clutch master (the bit with the lever on it!). Shop around to get the cheapest price, should be able to get one cheap on ebay.

Ti bolts - try ebay again. Same bolts as Pro-Bolt but without the price!

Oops :lol: Indeed yes, I did mean to say clutch slave cylinder.

I've already replaced the master cylinder with a radial type, fitted new braided lines, but then (and only then) realised that the issue of the heavy clutch is in fact the slave cylinder. :rolleyes:

The price of the JHP part seems to have jumped from about £115 to £140...

I just wasn't sure if there were recommended alternatives, and recommended places from which to purchase...

Don't know if it's works as well on a 916 but my 03 multi had heavy clutch (used to wet 848) and it wa suggested I remove a spring (may have been two, one opp the other), bingo it's lovely and light.

It's important to note that you can experience clutch disengagement problems if you use too large a diameter slave unit.

Disk bolts are M8 x 20, but be careful with the heads as you really need low-profile versions otherwise they may foul on the speedo drive unit.

A good tip to find out bolt/nut sizes is to go to the Pro-Bolt website (http://www.tastynuts.com/) and look it up on there, as they usually list the size!

Plenty of food for thought here. I can see me spending a few evenings just doing my homework and getting plans sorted out. I didn't realise that there were so many options to consider.
