Ant, did you use a spacer through the engine cases or drill and re-tap the frame for the larger 620 engine mounting bolts?

I've used the std rear top bolt with the casing sleeved (£2.99 from Homebase!) but can't make my mind up how to do the front as I may want to be able to put a 583 motor back in at some stage....

Did you have any clearance problems with the ECU/battery under the tank or are you relocating it all for better weight distribution?

Cheers, Paul

Both front and back mounting points on the engine were sleeved to save modifying the frame for exactly the same reason as you. Mark brought along a collection of oem engine bolts and we found that the 900 bolt was fine for the front - I can measure it if you want as they were all about 5 to 10mm different in length.

As for the battery, we didn't try the tank but just fitted all the airbox in place which works fine. It sits lower than the 583 engine one, by about an inch, so I don't think it will have clearance problems... at least I hope not! I'm sure it wouldn't take much to go to a Monster tank or relocate things if it did.

The only other thing you need to do is sort the fuel pump for the FI, and this we did by using a fuel pump from a Trumpet. They are exactly the same dimensions as the oem one for the 583 and put out the same PSI as the oem Ducati FI pump. You can splice the Trumpet connector into the Ducati harness and all the pipes are the same size, so it fits right in place of the Ducati one. We picked a couple up off ebay for less than 15 quid each. Like this one:

I've got my camera here, so I'll post a couple of pics of the frame once I've resized them.

Nope, just fitted it to the frame to check the frame wouldn't need chopping before sending it away for powder coating.

Once it's back we'll fully fit the engine and get it running, but I'm sure it will be fine :D

Here's the 620 engine in the 583 frame. You can see that there's enough room to clear the cross brace at the front, but it fits!

Thanks Antony, I was wondering about the 900 bolt myself.

I sorted my pump by buying a complete tank, removing all the internals and flogging the bare tank to break even! Although I fully expect the tank to finish ahead of its internals..........

Looks great Ant - your bike is finished!!

Reckon the weight saving will be worth 5 seconds a lap ;)
