Jenson Button?

Views please, mine are mixed....?

His behaviors and comments make me cringe, his driving and persistence I can appreciate.

Is F1 in a mess when this happens, ie Brawn and Button, or is it back to the good old days when it was a bit of a lottery between car/driver/track combinations?

Yes, inclined to agree. The "Yeaaaaahhhhhhh, we're the World Champion Baybeeee" type comments come across like Austin Powers and weren't very cool even when Austin Powers was all the go.

Mind you, I think that anybody who becomes a World Champion at anything deserves all the accolades they can get, particularly when they've come from not even having a team or a job just before the start of the season.

Did they just get lucky with their interpretation of the rules at the begining of the season? Maybe, but you have to make your own luck and it's especially impressive when you have to wade through a swamp of bad luck to get there.

At least he did it fairly not like some of the past winners I could name, luck certainly played it's part but that's pretty normal in any sport.

Congratulations to Jenson & Brawn well done.

Surely, any personality has got to be better than the boring German/Finnish champions of recent years?

And didn't we all just love Nigel Mansell.............?

Yeh baby

Right car, right team, right time thats what F1 is about.

Brawn stole a march on the competition for the 2009 season with the major change of regs. Jenson was able to take full advantage of what the team and car gave him. TBH in that situation the only true competitor is your teamate.

yep, some of the stuff is pretty cringeworthy but that's just the modern age.

Ray.

Well done Jensen I say !

The times had a good write up today about how Honda gave up on the 2008 car really early and started working on the 2009 car, thus it was fully developed out of the box, hence 6 wins out of the first 7 races.

The times also says they spent about $500m, and gave another $100m to Brawn for 2009.......

You have to wonder if someone at Honda has been shot for quitting just when they were about to win !

Interestingly NO british F1 world champion has retained the title, when told this Jensen seemed to be up for the challenge.....

Would the car have been a 'winner' with a Honda engine in the back though? No doubt the Mercedes has been the class of the field this year...
