999 help

Was out on the bike tonight when the battery meter began to flash and display 15.1 volts.

Had a look in the hand book but could find no reference to the meaning of the flashing. I assume it indicates something in amiss and overcharging?

Anyone know for definite? Am I looking at a new regulator?

You need to check that it is not overcharging -but have heard that sometimes the CPU gives the wrong info-is it standard? ie silencers because if you have race pipes and CPU you could refit the std one to confirm the fault

Stock bike. Got home in the dark so will have to put a multimeter on it tomorrow .

Hasnt there been some cases of overcharging.........and batteries expanding and going pop?

Managed to get a meter on the bike.

Everything switched off - 13.04V

Ignition on - 12.83V

Bike started and under load - 14.36V

Reading on LCD - 15.0, 15.1, 15.2 etc to 15.8. Reading then changes to HI or H1 and the EOBD light comes on.

HELP!

Well the charging circuit would appear to be OK.

The guy who services my bike has suggested it may be a faulty ECU!!!££££££

Have sent an email to these guys to see if they can help:

http://www.injectioncorrection.co.uk/

Seem to remember another forum member had used them

ECU going to Injection Correction tomorrow by courier. Will update outcome.

Whilst trawling for info on the net I came across this site

http://www.mmcompsys.com/motorsportsengine.html

An alternative for the power commander. But how much?

Got an update from Injection Correction today. The ECU is faulty and they can repair it - £187.50 + vat. They did ask - what is all the blue liquid inside it? Me thinks - Ah, that would be when the fan chomped through the coolant hose back in April.

Should have it back on Friday

Update

Got an update from the company re my ECU. News is not good. The damgae caused by the coolant is causing problems with the reprogramming they are trying to do. Have to get back to them on Friday.

How many 749/999 owners have suffered the coolant hose being chomped by the cooling fan on the radiator?

How many 749/999 owners have had the same fault on their ECU?
