Hello Chris, Thanks, as always for keeping the club in the loop! 25th Anniversary of the Heritage centre on the same day - didnt notice that before - nice organising. Gotta be a good excuse for a ride-out / meet? Best Wishes - Frank |
Frank - thanks for your continuing support and for reposting the notice on the Ducati Up North forum. Because the Aviation Centre celebrates its 25th Anniversary on the same day there'll be lots more happening at this years event. We hope it'll be the best ever..... |
Update: as part of the Aviation Centres 25th Anniversary celebrations, 'Em's Day 2013' will be graced by two Avro Lancaster bombers and a B17 Flying Fortress. The Aviation Centres 'Just Jane' will perform her usual taxi-runs and the BBMF's Avro Lancaster and a B17 Flying Fortress will perform flying displays. Additional WW2 aircraft are to still to be confirmed. B17 Flying Fortress 'Sally B' web site: http://www.sallyb.org.uk |
The timetable for 'Em's Day' and the LAHC 25th Anniversary has now been finalised: Avro Lancaster taxi-run 1.00pm BBMF Avro Lancaster flying display 2.40pm Avro Lancaster taxi-run 3.00pm B-17 Flying Fortress flying display 3.30pm Em's Day runs from 10.00am until late afternoon and admission for those arriving by motorcycle is £7.00 each for all riders and pillions. Admission for children, 6 to 15 years, is £4.00. Please try to have the correct money available when you arrive - thank you. Because this years event is expected to be very busy, on arrival in the main car park all motorcyclists will be directed straight ahead to where we will have the UKBEG gazebo set up to process arrivals. We won't be using the main gates for access to the display area as in previous years. This helps to keep the main gates clear for public admissions and also means you can park your motorcycle up near the UKBEG gazebo and check in at a more leisurely pace before riding into the display area. If you're arriving on four wheels instead of two then please park in the main car park and come and check in with us because if you go straight to the main public entrance you may be charged the normal £10 admission rate. |
What a good day out, met up with some likeminded buddies locally and rode down, enjoying mild weather and great Lincolnshire roads. I might as well show the route: http://goo.gl/maps/mCyPw Excellent organising by Chris & Team - Thank you! I'm guessing 300 - 400 bikes turned up, with Italian bikes well supported but the Lancaster Bombers (Yes, TWO) & the B17 were the stars of the show: Good crowds & appreciation for 'Just Jane' FLY BABY FLY! (Sadly, not just yet) 'Thumper' flies overhead Laverda Corner Some of the bikes, many had left with the rainfront coming... Sorry, couldnt resist -Amadeus in 'touring' mode I love a healthy sense of Humour B17 at 12 O'clock Some spots of rain caught up with us on the return leg and Lincolnshire played it's petrol station out of gas card (YET AGAIN!) but all was ok. Humber bridge to Beverley, then WetWang (love it!) for award winning fish & chips, round off via Helmsley and a spirited run run along the quiet evening TT route... (apologies to the lonely Police rider on the Yorkshire back roads at 7pm - we couldn't really wait for you ;) ) Cheers - Frank |
We would like to thank everyone who attended Saturday's event. There was a mouth-watering selection of Italian motorcycles and your presence helped to make the event a success. The event raised £500.00 for the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit which looked after Emma. The total raised by this and various other UKBEG events since Emma passed away in April 2004 now stands at over £38,000.00. |
There's a nice feature about Saturday's event, including pictures, in the Silksheen Photography section of the LAHC web site here |
