No reason why you can't buy Termi's less ECU, either the 2-2 or 2-1-2 system and either new or second hand. Remember that a previously fitted ECU (ie second hand)won't work on any bike other than that which it was fitted to first. The ECU's fitted to the 749/999 range don't have chips like the older models. You have to re-programme the whole ECU and Ducati have very kindly encripted the system such that it is nigh on impossible to do - unless you want to fork out large on a Corse item. Thats why PC3 is the most cost effective way to go. |
749er, you could....... Buy new Termi assymetric can, carbon cover, link pipe, filters + ancillaries (no ecu) = approx £550 Buy a PCIII for a 748 off fleaBay (same but cheaper) = approx £150 Have it all setup on dyno (IMHO, better than 1 size fits all DP ecu) = approx £100 Enjoy spending the change (from not buying the ecu) on some bling (if that's your bag) or a couple of trackdays. :burn: [Edited on 1-6-2005 by Wylie1] |
I was lucky to get a 57mm system with ecu and filters for my 04 999S at a very good price. When chatting to mechanics they told me the ecu lets engine rev another 1000 rpm before it hits limiter and as its designed for racing is more top endy and less mid range. As i use bke on road they said don't fit ecu until i can get pc and dyno time for a map for my specific setup. They also said it was posible to use a new ecu without coding it thus leaving it free to be moved onto another bike or the system resold with it, once coded it cant be done again. |
