46mm sockets for rear wheel I was at the Dirt Rider Expo at Stoneleigh yesterday and a company called AB Tools PO Box 112, Market Drayton, Shropshire TF9 4WA 016306 72748 were selling 1/2 inch drive 46mm (or 1 13/16") sockets that have had the chamfered edge turned down and has only 6 sides to give better grip on the narrow rear wheel nut for £15. It was second hand but still cheaper than any new ones i've seen. just thought it may be useful. |
Sounds good value, I've just coughed £50 for a 41mm, 46mm and extension bar with 3/4 drive so £15 is definitely a bargain. |
I've got a 1 13/16" 6-point socket from Halfords, it's a standard car part, ball-joint nut or something. No chamfer either and pretty cheap IIRC. |
Yep, I have the cheap Halfrauds version too. Has worked perfectly well so far. |

How much was pretty cheap? Have i been done at £15? |
Not really, I seem to remember a similar price for the Halfords one. |
 My local Halfords said they didn't stock anything in that size. "Are you sure you need something big? What is it, a truck?" And then we had the torque conversation ... "Are you sure you need to torque it up that much?" He was a real snapperhead! So, I haven't bought anything yet ... |
NUTS yep i got one of the halferdds jobbies £12 sovs if i remmember.............does the job:D |
I got the same one from my local motorfactors - £7 :D |
I usually can get hold of a set of three sockets from my local tool guys, he buys em in for me. 28mm 4 front spindle, 41mm 4 nearside rear wheel nut and 46mm 4 off side rear wheel nut. Do all three plus 1/2 inch to 3/4 drive convertor for £22 plus P+P if anybody is interested? Bradders and Mav among others have had em |
