Ford Galaxy TDI Can I pick the brains of a few of you? I have a 3 yr old Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI Sport with 54K on the clock. The Mass air sensor has gone caput and also the turbo has siezed!!! The cost of a new turbo + labour is £1433.73 and mass air sensor is another £250. How common is this problem, the car has a full ford service history, just had a service and its 1st MOT etc and the oil level is ok. What could hav caused the blow up? |

not sure what could cause this..but you might be able to get a recondition Turbo?? |
The 1.9 TDI is a Volkswagon engine. Maybe you could look around some of the VW forums, see what you can find out. This engine is used across a huge number of VW group platforms and generally has a reputation for being very robust. Try to find a Diesel specialist in your area rather than the Ford dealer. They could give you a better appraisal, and if they know of any historic concerns they will advise you, which will help in your battle with Ford. If you contact the Ford hotline and make enough noise there is a good chance you will get money off the bill. If you find evidence that this is a common concern, and again make lots of noise, Ford 'may' fix the vehicle free of charge, even though it is out of warranty. I speak from experience. |

A passing 999 or 749     You go on about the 999/749 being beaten by an ugly stick then admit to owning a Ford Galaxy  |
Everton Get me a large spoon so that I can eat my humble pie, actually its the wifes car, but point taken. |

be fair now, its a Ford Galaxy Sport;) but back on topic, surprising to hear of a turbo seizing, I think complaining to Ford stating it has full service history with Ford should get you some results |
Good news! Ford have offered to pay for 90% of the cost of the turbo including labour charges. The vehicle was 2 weeks out of warrenty so asked them to consider a sympathetic warrenty claim and they have so I`m well pleased. The dealer has done all this for me so thembs up to a good Ford dealer. |
