Looking to Buy 1999 Duc 996 BP...what to check??? I am looking at a 1999 Duc 996 Biposto at a dealer in the US. It has 9,062 miles, yellow with white number plates, 100% stock, and looks very well maintained. Can someone help with with what to look for to make sure I am getting a solid bike? This will be my first Italian bike....I'm used to Jap bikes. It has a few small cosmetic blemishes, but for 6 years old, nothing major. Getting it for a great deal....as long as it's solid mechanically...it has been checked out by the service department at the Suzuki dealer that it's for sale at, but I doubt they know what to look for with a Duc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
don't know about the colour schemes over there. but white number boards are not standard over here, other than that it looks like a very standard bike (no carbon anywhere) you need to find yourself a ducati dealer or parts supplier over there. main thing is to make sure it has had oil changes and a fresh belt recently would be very important. most ducati horror stories come from snapped belts that haven't been changed regularly ps what deal will they do you on that RC51 |
Yeah, it is a stock scheme. Belt? What belt? I am Ducati stupid, but I will learn as I go. |
sorry belts. cam belts they need changing every two years if you have been used to IL4's be aware that ducati's don't like to be neglected |
Not another bloody yellow one :lol::lol: |
Oh yippee...every 2 years by age, or average mileage? |
I'm not a huge yellow fan, but for the price I cant pass it up. $7595 USD PS RC51 sold. |
there is a mileage limit, but someone else will have to tell you what that is, I only do a couple of thousand a year if that |
Yeah, I'm not planning on riding more than that either. |
I would still have a very good look over the front fairing of that bike. only you would know but I'm still surprised if that white board is standard. and what is that front indicator about ? and the screen has a tint to. may of been repaired |
