18k mile service booked - what to ask for? Hi all, I have just booked in the 748 with Dave Woods in Aylesbury for the 18k mile service. Apart from the obvious things covered, Dave asked me to jot down additional things I would want looking at. From the top of my head: Belts Valve clearances Pull cams and check rocker wear Clutch basket and plates (I know this is due) Fluids (forks, brakes etc.) Am I missing anything else that is essential on this service? Cheers H |
Get him to take a look at the regulator/rectifier wiring behind the battery. The connecting block (white jobbie) should be clean and dry, and the wiring leading to and from it should be in good condition. In an ideal world you should replace the wire coming from the stator for a higher guage, and redo the connectors at the reg/rec. This isn't a service thing, but whilst its there, perhaps its worth mentioning? Alternator nut tightening to correct torque and loctited. I don't know what Dave Woods is like for servicing, but if they are any good, the rest should be done as a matter of course. |

Fork oil doesn't really need doing *that* often, but if it hasn't been done for years... I'd add, Replace fuel and air filters Clean fuel pre-filter Mathesis test Check head bearings and wheel bearings (he should do that anyway) |
