Braided brake lines on my 916

Over the Winter I was planning to change over to braided brake lines on my 916.......:D
The set up is some what different on my 916 to what I have had before were by the rubber brake line goes vertically into the Caliper and not vire an angled banjo bolt.
This chap has offered me his braided lines from his old 996, they look the correct length but will they fit.....:puzzled:

I thought the 916 came with braided lines as standard?

No , just good old rubber on my 97..916

Should do - if they fit one set then they will be long enough to fit the others. You may need to buy a couple of banjo bolts (and copper washers) to fit the lines into the calipers when you take the rubber lines out though, depending on what parts you have, although for the sake of a few quid its probably worth using new ones anyway.

At the moment I have the three line kit but no banjo bolts.
the brake line end bolts are straight... not sure what you call them, I would have thought angled would have made a better fit... am I wrong..:puzzled:

You mean the ends of the lines are straight?

Yes, being angled will make a better fit but I don't think it will stop them being fitted.

There are two holes at the top of the caliper, one should be for the brake line and the other for the bleed screw. You can take both of these out and switch them round however you please - I had to do this on a pair of 916 caliper I bought from eBay as the bleed nipples had been fitted to different holes on either side!

Yes, sorry the line ends are straight.
Thinking of using Titainium Banjo bolts, would it be a good idea to change the bleed nipples at the same time.
Thinking of trying Pro bolt are they any good...?

dst1 28-Oct-2005 18:17

looking at the Banjo bolts with Pro bolt, they have two sizes
both are M10 but one is 1.0mm and the other is 1.25mm
any idea which one...:puzzled:

Banjo bolt size for the Brembo caliper is M10 X 1.0mm
Just incase anyone else needs to know...:)
