Gaining more umph from my 748? I have had my 748 for ~ 4 months now and I am getting used to the power. What will give me the best power/buck upgrade. Termis, filter or power commander ? PS - I got the Moto GP 2005 review for Chritsmas and I find the 'Hello boots' saying very annoying!! Thanks |
Pipercross Filters FIM Chip CAM Dial In / Top end refresh 853 Conversion / SP Conversion Full Dyno Setup for each of the above Termi's depend on the price. They can be had quite cheap now, so it depends on what you pay for them. |
what model and year of 748 is it ? what sort of budget ? really the simplest and cheapest 'power mod' is dropping the front sprocket size. More info will get you more answers :) |

Year 2000 748 BP |
doubt you will be able to drop the front sproket. That mod is normally for the 996 etc which has a 15 tooth front sprocket and everyone fits the 748 14 tooth front sprocket to get quicker acceleration. You should already have the 14 tooth front sprocket on a 748 and you can not go any lower. Better mod for you would be 2 or 3 teeth up on the rear sprocket. May knock 10mph off top end but will turn the bike in to a fast accelerating wheelie machine :D |

Renthall sprocket carrier, go up 2 teeth on the sprocket to fit the carrier, 45mm cans, choose your own make, personaly I have Titanium Leo Vinci's on mine, but there are plenty to choose from & an F.I.M. chip to sort it all out, as for filters stick to standard or get pipercross replacement filters fo you original ones. A power commander is expensive but if the money is there go for it. The next mods would be suspension, standard supension, set up right, is good, throwing money at an ohlins or equivelent & a fork internal upgrade is expensive but will give better results in the longrun. Oh & YELLOW ones are FASTER;) Chris:burn: [Edited on 27-12-2005 by chris.p] |
