WEIGHT SAVING WHEEL OPTION A mate of mine is having some of thoes BST Carbon wheels fitted to his Blade. My question is I have original Marchensinis on my 996R. Would there be a dramatic difference in weight etc if mine were to be fitted with the BST Carbon wheels, or would the weight difference be negligable. |
IMO unless you are planning to go racing the only real purpose it serves is bling factor........but we all love a bit of bling...:smug: |
They would weigh a lot less. If you've got the cash - go for it. I reckon you'd be better off getting the 10 spoke magnesium ones, which are a lot lighter than standard and not much heavier than the BSTs, and then spending the grand you'd save on some other performance mods. Tim |
And carbon wheels do look fine........... Moley:rodent: |
I remember Shazaam posting an article about self same subject and why carbon are not a good idea for the street, with Mags being far better. Some one will be along soon with the answer. |
shazaams post, or at least one of 'em mentioend amd listed tyre weights. In effect you get free lightweight wheels if tou change from the heaviest tyre to the lightest! I vaguely recall that the lightest road tyres were Pirelli supacorsas? Time for a search Ray. |
Here is the Shazaam post I talked about http://ducatisportingclub.com/xmb/vi...ge=1#pid124993 Read his other article further up the same page. [Edited on 19-12-2005 by Desmo748] [Edited on 19-12-2005 by Desmo748] |
Oh god, wouldnt want that happening to me. May just have to travel in front of mates Blade when he has his fitted. Although he feels he has done his homework. He says the BST wheels are fit for road use. Thanks guys. The great debate continues. |
