Quick update. Bonhams had one for sale last weekend. Stored since 1999 and 2,700km, from a private collection in Germany and it made £8050 with premium. However, the tax rules meant that it was deemed new enough in condition and mileage to attract 20% import tax, ignoring the fact that it was a 1994 bike that had been registered back then too....not very nice of them! So in reality, the cost to the winning bidder was closer to £10,000. I did bid on it but it went over my top price and I was too slow by the time I decided I had to put one final bid in (I was bidding over the internet, rather than in person, so the Auctioneer couldn't see the turmoil I was putting myself through!!). I do have one other bike I am chasing and hope to come to a conclusion ASAP, so fingers are crossed. Chris |
Good luck Chris, it's always worth sticking to your guns and getting what you want even if it's a few quid more, rather than compromising! Keep us updated! |
I found one and now restoring 3 Attachment(s) As you may have found out from my other thread, I found a Strada. These photos are from the day it arrived.....just before I stripped it down. Also have a website if you feel like following my progress (which will be a little slow). http://www.ducati888.co.uk Chris |
Gorgeous! Looking forward to the rebuild, complete restore to original? I cant help trying to upgrade bikes, Ohlins, Radials and sensible engine mods are all fair game in my book. Cheers. |

I want to keep it with the modifications it has had, such as the mild work Baines Racing has done (Termignoni cans, ECU, and airbox mod) and carbon bits, but bring the paint scheme back to pretty much original. The engine is being fully rebuilt right now and I am trying to get "man shed" time to keep working on the bits that need tidying up. Chris |
