Brembo radial m/c upgrade, Any extra parts needed

Any extra parts needed to uprgrade to a Brembo radial m/c on the 998 or will the standard fliud reservouir & bracket fit. It's for my track bike so i do not need a light switch.

You can use the stad. reservoir and bracket bu you have to mount it off one of the clipon bolts as the radial doesn't have a mount. You'll just need some new pipe to hook the reservoir up to the cylinder

Here's a pic of how I fitted mine. I used a longer bolt on one of the clip-ons and put a small spacer underneath it, then used the original reservoir bracket. I used a big pair of pliers to twist the bracket as I switched to a smaller reservoir, but you won't need to do this if you keep the original one. I prefer the smaller reservoirs, especially as they have plastic lids so don't corrode!

I also has issues with clearance as I've got a carbon surround on my clocks. I spent ages getting the clip-ons in just the right position so they didn't touch and in the end went for some replacement (slightly longer) bars to give me more room to move things outwards. They actually work quite well and were only £20, just made it all a lot easier and fit nicely with my black parts too!

Did the standard hoses fit ok for lenght.

Are you using a single or double banjo bolt into the Master as there can be clearance issues with the airtubes

Mello-Yellow 27-Jan-2010 23:38

Double banjo, standard airtubes.

There was someone on ebay selling an adapter for the double banjo bolt to avoid the clearance issue. It was basically a threaded tube with a banjo hole at one end. You used the adapter with the single banjo into the m/c, which then gave you a right-angle turn on the inlet (the adapter now sits parallel below the m/c). You screwed the double banjo into the adapter so you kept the single height banjo clearance but could fit a double banjo and brake lines. The adapter was less than £20 I think, but I can't find them with a quick search! Typical!

As for the reservoir hose, just get a metre off ebay, usually about £5-£6 per metre for Brembo stuff.

Senna3 got one a while ago for fitting a brembo Radial to his 916 Senna3, I was thinking of getting one for my 996 as although only single banjo the brake light pressure switch wiring is very close to the air tubes, only having a bit of clearance due to running wider bars

The search is on, if anyone knows of were to source these adapters let me know.
