How accurate are SSie speedos? I ask cos I've just speed tested my tweaked 800ss down some long straight road (location undisclosed ;)) tucked in behind the screen with my racing leathers on. I was astonished to watch the speedo easily climb past 130, then 140, and finally creep past 150 where upon it hit the limiter in top. :o Previously it topped out at 136 before I tweaked it. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. |
:D |
The most i have ever seen on my 900ssie is 136mph in France last summer. This was with a tailpack on though. The speedo does seem very accurate[or less full of ****] than alot of my mates Japenese bikes. They are talking 10mph faster at those sorts of speeds. Since lowering the gearing after France it gets up to speed faster. The most i have seen on it at a track is127mph on Cadwels back straight,123mph into Paddock at Brands on the DSC day last year and about 125 at Donington GP on the old gearing Intrestingly at Brands my 85bhp[i guess DP cans and filter] made 123mph,Ziggis 996s with 125 ish brake made about 128mph and RichieX SPS was pulling about 133mph.Alot more power to overcome more resistance |
Well, my 750SSie shows about 125 on the clock. How accurate that is i don't know but that is with standard gearing |

My dark (750 sport) has done 130 on Cadwell park straight then topped out.... L |
Yeh mine about the same as Lisa's, although did have it off the speedo (160) when I first got it, out-pacing a mate on a Zx9 on a very-very long road.... oh-er... Andy |
So 152-ish seems like it was pretty accurate then? It was standard gearing. Ummmm...that's a mightily fast 800ss then. Just the job for Minitwins...but I need to lose 8bhp as it's knocking on 80bhp atm  |

So get on with it and work out a cost model ;) |
I am desperately trying to find ways to get my bikes sorted for racing but, I am strapped for cash atm dude. On a related note I went out for a hoon last night....I just can't help myself. Tooling along on the 167 back from Thirsk I had a dust up with a CBR600RR.....too easy he was. The 800 is a seriously fast A-road bike, 120-130 all the way :burn: Bugger drinks gas though. Full to warning light in 90 miles! :borg: |
