Ducati 750SS - T-Reg, Red, Stolen - Found in Tyneside From a friend: "Condition is such that I doubt it was ridden there. Extensive accident damage, missing parts including seat and fairings, ignition drilled out, mud on tyres, no spark plug lead! I suspect it was dumped when the thief realised it was Datatagged." http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati1.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati2.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati3.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati4.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati5.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati6.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati7.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati8.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati9.jpg http://www.brunel.ac.uk/~eesridr/Ducati10.jpg Give me a shout if you want putting in touch with the finder. Update: He's phoned Hillingdon cops: Quote:
No questions of if it was stolen. He's currently phoning DataTag instead. |
Terrible that someones pride and joy can be treated in such a way + very disapointing response by police, Maybe the finder should of said it was flashed by a speed camera - might have got a better response !!! |
Just been informed that it's already been taken away now! |
I take it from the pictures that it has a number plate on it. I also take it that you know its stolen as you have stated its stolen. When your mate rang the cops, did he tell them either of these, that it is known to be stolen or the registration displayed? |

He didn't know it was stolen for sure (guy may have binned it or something) but the fact that the ignition has been drilled (as can be seen in the pic) kind of gave him that suspicion, hence he reported it. Yes, he did give them the reg plate and the datatag number off the bike and told them about the ignition. He didn't want to move the bike in case of prints or anything else that could be taken from it. But, as above, all that is irrelevant now as it's gone again! |
Sadly, for the north east - some other scum might well have stolen it already !!! |
I have to say im a bit dubious about the "driilled" ign switch. In my experience the scum just pull the back off of the switch anyway and do the wires. The drilling wont affect the steering lock bit as thats usually busted underneath. I wonder if it was an insurance jobbie from the owner? :o |
Don't know - he said (and you can see from the pics) that it was covered in mud and quite a few bits missing already. He checked the parkland opposite but couldn't see any tyre tracks, so didn't think the owner had come off anywhere near. I'm not sure how the locks work on Ducatis so can't say if there would be anything to gain drilling/screwdrivering the lock. |
from past experience they use a slide hammer and it pulls the egnition out and then just shove a screw driver in the hole to click steering lock off, quite simple really, thats why we use alarms and imobilisers. find it rather strange that the coil wires been ripped out. could be a claim and might only have 3rd party. |
