Track Gearing fro 748

Ive just got hold of a cheap renthal quick change sprocket carrier for my 748 track bike..I notice that the sprocket on it is a 39 tooth, whereas the existing rear on the bike is a 37T. The bike ha a 14T front I belive.

Just wondered what gearing people run for various tracks and perhaps how the bike would run with a 39/14 combination as a base setting..

Also, how much do the renthal quick change sprockets run to..?

Cheers
Nat

The sprockets go to 42 I think? maybe 44. You'll need a longer chain for much more than 39, unless you've already got one?
I ran 14/38 on the stock motor and now use 36 :)
Depends how you want to ride it. Personally, i don't like the "buzziness" of the short gearing. I tried a 41 for a while and got tired of it pretty quickly. Stick with what you've got and try it. They're not hard to change, you just need to make sure you have the chain length.
The sprockets themselves are £30-£35 ish.

I changed to 14/40 and I love it, there is a big difference.
But the sprockets are cheap so if you don't like it you can change back.

Nat,

When I had my 748R I ran 14, 42 at virtually all of the U.K circuits (except the obvious ones like Thruxton or Snetterton), this made the bike far livelier and made the most of the 748's revvy nature.
