Count down to Rd 1 at Brands Hatch

Karen your new riders rep alongside Trudi has put the following wording together, should prove helpful for those New to the Desmo Due paddock

With just over 2 weeks until the first race, are you ready? Are you wondering what you might still need to do?
(all information valid as at 4 March 2015)

Memberships – to race you will need to be a member of not just 1 club but 3. You are required to join Hottrax via their website, the Ducati Sporting Club and the Desmo Due race club via the DSC website.

ACU requirements – you will need to have a valid ACU racing licence and show this to the Hottrax representatives when you ‘sign on’ at the event. If you are a ‘novice’ or a ‘novice intermediate’ rider then you will also need to wear an orange bib when on track. Please use the forum or the Facebook page to request the loan of a bib, if you don’t own one.

Registering for the event - you can enter the event via the Hottrax website or by ringing their office - Tel - 08455 193197. You can pay at Brands Hatch when you arrive but names will only be added to the programme for those entering on or prior to 13 March. You will need to enter the test day separately, spaces are limited so please book now if you definitely want to attend.

Garages and life in the paddock – there are two paddock areas at Brands. The ‘upper’ paddock where the garages are located. If you want a garage space for your bike you will need to book a place via Hottrax (charge of £30 per bike). Only those with a garage booking can park in the ‘upper’ paddock. The charge includes electricity and allows space for two vehicles (one car/transporter and one support vehicle/trailer). There are limited shower and toilet facilities within the upper paddock.

You will be pleased to hear that the ‘lower paddock’ is free and has a plentiful supply of electric points (16amp sockets) around the outer edge. There is also a larger toilet and shower facility. The Kentigan restaurant and bar is located at the top of this area. Usually the Kentigan doesn’t open on the Thursday night so please arrange to ‘self cater’, alternatively you can walk up to the Thistle Hotel at the entrance of the circuit.

New to DD? How do we do things? Who are N & K catering?

There will be a prize giving for the 1st race in the Kentigan Saturday evening, commencing 7pm. Trophies for the Sunday races will be presented 30 minutes after the last race has finished adjacent Kev’s van in the lower paddock. There will also be a raffle (free entry for all DD riders) – any unwanted gifts or donations for prizes will be greatly appreciated.

N & K are Nancy and Karen. Weather permitting they arrange catering for the DD paddock at race events. These have proven some good evening get-togethers. Meals in the past have included sausage & mash, curries etc. Keep an eye on the Facebook page and if the weather looks good for the Friday night at Brands, an event/gathering will be organised.

New for all in 2015 - all bikes now are required to have a rain light fitted (please see technical rules for specification) and from the 3rd round (Pembrey) will need to be using the new tyres. (The Dunlop Qualifiers can still be used for round 1 (Brands Hatch), round 2 (Cadwell) and for test days.)

The cheapest place to buy your tyres from is Protyre Motorsport. They will be at all race events but it is advisable to pre-book your tyres to ensure that they have sufficient stock for you – Tel: 01782 411001.
