748 running problems

hi all

Sun was out today and no threat of rain so decided to take the 748 to work but ran into problems 1/2 mile up the road.

Bike starts first time & idles fine but as soon as the engine is under load there's no power (feels like it's running on one cylinder but both pipes are hot) - the orther thing is that it won't rev past 6k - have checked plugs and both are fine but am at a loss as to what to look at 1st due to easy starting & idle...any ideas much appreciated!

Fuel filter?

Fuel filter is a very valid point. Could be throttle sensor to.
Has any work been done recently??

No work done recently and I'll check the fuel filter although it's only ever had fancy schmansy Shell in it so I'll be a tad miffed that my extra pennies were wasted!

...will also get a fuel system cleaner incase the injectors are gunked up although it's not been sat for long so shouldn't be, gets ridden once a week while my 'busa dries out - been a bit wet this winter!

Had it running earlier while looking for inspiration - seems the lower cylinder is running at idle but not when you open the throttle - if I don't get anywhere over the w/e I'm calling in a mechanic cos I'll probably break sumat if I mess for too long!

6000 miles tops for a filter no matter what fancy petrol you run the bike on! Odd thats its only one pot causing the trouble though. TPS wouldn't do that would it Neil?
Give nelly a bell and get it booked in.

Couple of tablets of Viagra in the tank.....works for me

I had a similar prob recently, turned out to be the breather inside the fuel filler cap. Clincher was when the fuel filler didn't want to open.

Apaz this is not uncommon on Monsters.
