999 seat height Has anyone else noticed just about any of the race 999s have the height of the seat pad higher. Im talking about the actual pad itself in relation to the back of the tank. |
looks like this..... |
There is a thicker seat pad in the latest DP catalogue, part no.96959303B. |
who's bike is that picture of andyb |
Pro-twins also sell a modified seat pad like the one in the pic. They modify your original seat. Costs about £200 +vat. Anybody know how much the DP one is? |
That is protwins race bike. I think the dp one is a comfort thing. I spoke with brett at pro twins and this is a performance modification. Part of the improvements in their quest for handling. |
I have one of the higher seat pads . . . I bought mine from Pro-Twins - works a treat - moves the weight of your body so that there is more over the front - and this is how I rate the mod . . . Comfort - 7/10 - puts slightly more pressure on your wrists Feel - 9/10 - much more confidence in the front end Value for money - 8/10 - definately My mate had his 749r done at the same time - he was thinking about dropping the forks, raising the rear, modding the fork internals etc etc etc but after changing his seat - he says that its transformed the bike!!! I have to agree with him - the bike feels so much more planted at the front now! Khushy [Edited on 20-5-2005 by khushy] |
The "race" 999's (RS and F's) have a different subframe and seat unit, the seat unit doesn't bolt to the seat pad and tank |

It's a removable frame rail - SBK rules allow metal to be added to the frame but not removed. They don't use it at all tracks depending on how much flex they want (I think), which is why it's removable. |
