Fixing clip

Does anybody have a pic of the fixing that holds these in place?Take it its a "rawplug" type that the screw goes into.

Jools 16-Feb-2006 18:49

Errr...Can't quite see what you mean, but it looks like you need some wellnuts

philthy 16-Feb-2006 19:23

Is that bit off the fairing? Looking at the hole size I would say that Jools is right. You may need the same fixings as the ones which hold your side panels on.

aka.eric 16-Feb-2006 19:26

The parts manual shows them as:-85040151A Insert
Wellnuts are shown as 036499020 M6
800063150 M5
Are you using wellnuts?if they work they will do for me.

philthy 16-Feb-2006 19:31

Still not sure where that bit goes.:puzzled: Go on ...give us a clue:D

aka.eric 16-Feb-2006 19:46

Part no 23.

aka.eric 16-Feb-2006 19:52

Try it a bit smaller!

Rob B 16-Feb-2006 21:41

Mine has a small spring steel clip that slides over both edges of the panel. The 4mm fixing screw threds into that. Look at the fixings up on the headlight frame that hold the RH side panel, same I think. NLA from ducati though but Halfords do Odd Packs that have a very similar item. Do you want a pic?

Rgds, Rob

aka.eric 16-Feb-2006 21:45

Please,a pic is always handy.

phil911 16-Feb-2006 21:58

Some T.8 1994 had red parts with a couple of nuts included in the plastic ...

Here's the black 1993 ...

phil911 16-Feb-2006 23:35

Here is a rare original 94 red part ... :D

phil911 16-Feb-2006 23:36

... and here is how the nut is designed ...

sparkin 16-Feb-2006 23:46

Mines a spring clip that slides over the plastic to take the screw like Rob describes, you might be able to get some from an automotive supplier for a few pence.

aka.eric 16-Feb-2006 23:58

Cheers men.
Now I can see them Phil,clear as a bell.Merci.

phil911 17-Feb-2006 13:28

Here's the clip thingy. It's the right bit as the description on the packet confirms. I think the rivnut type where on the 851.

We use clips like this in rack mounts for computers.

Is this the same thing?

Rob B 17-Feb-2006 17:51

Mike,

Those are the same as the mirror mounts and the upper front side panel fixing. M6 captive nuts are used in 6 places on the headlight frame, 3 each side.

mikesps 17-Feb-2006 17:57

Still looking for the 4mm clips, only 656,000 hits in Google!

Rob B 17-Feb-2006 18:11

Mike, What 4mm clips?

mikesps 17-Feb-2006 18:45

These ones, I think? We don't have Halfords in these here parts :frog:

Thanks for the assistance, bought some "U" clips from local motor factors, look very similar to Ducati part but use a self-tapper.Does the job,and only 70p for 6.

philthy 17-Feb-2006 19:28
