748 Chip I have two chips for my 748 Bip the codes are COD 965014AAA 748 BIP - 59 I have two set of pipes the standard and some scorpion race pipes can some kind person advise which chip goes with which pipes. also, how the hell do you get the chip out of the box, with a round hole obscured by part of the frame. do I need a tool or what? |
what size cans? the chip will pull out with a pair of long nose but be carefull putting one back in cos the pins bend so easy. |
Which end of the chip do I grip? I assume length ways. Not sure of the size of the Scorpion cans, they fit straight onto the stock mid section though. [Edited on 13-8-2004 by Desmo748] |
I ran the chip with my cans which slotted and standard pipes and it ran like a pig and stuck standard chip back in and ran like a swiss watch. if you have the same problem you could always get it set up to run with the chip. if I remember right there is a plastic clip which will stop the chip from coming out. I know I put a blob of silicone on it for some reason but cant remember why but youll work it out when you get in there. |
Des, The 059 chip is the Bip chip for standard cans, I guess the other chip is for ' open silencers' as its a Ducati part number, why not 'phone a dealer and confirm that its the correct one? |

Put the Scorpion cans on with the 965014AAA chip and it runs like a dream, great noise and more Bhp/Torque. Cheers for the help chaps. |
I've just changed my chip. I was going to have a go myself but decided to take it to my local Ducati specialist Predetor motorsport, cost me a tenner |
I will bear that in mind when the MOT is due. Cheers |
You should be ok running a different chip with the standard cans. The chips alter the fuelling, making it richer to cope with the increased airflow of the bigger bore cans. If you're like me and ride a couple of miles to the MOT station with your standard cans, then having the bike running slightly too rich won't hurt it at all. |
