620sie oil pressure switch

Has anyone heard of, or had a problem with their oil pressure light on this model?

Wife bought bike a few weeks ago and the oil pressure light has started to come on when going around corners etc.

This did not show up on the test ride, or on the way home!

Bike is just out of Ducati warranty but the dealer is going to fix it under their warranty, when i can get it back to them.

The switch has been replaced.

He tells us that the pressure at the bearings has been checked and is good, so it may be a wiring fault.

If it can't be fixed, the bike will be returned, but if anyone has any ideas in the meantime, i would be grateful.

Cheers.

The oil pressure switch has been a problem for a while on all Ducati. It's more or less the same switch regardless of model.
If the switch has been swapped out, then it could be a wiring fault.

btw, not sure how they've checked the pressure at the bearings though??? The pressure is checked where the switch screws in and indicates the pump pressure, if there was a problem though it would show as a low reading, so you should be OK. :smug:

Have you checked the actual oil level?

My old Orion used to do this becasue as you cornered the oil was drawn away from the pickup point in the sump which caused the pressure to drop.

Only did it on left hand bends if i remember rightly.

Easily cured in my case by disconnecting the oil pressure sender!

Thanks guys.
I reckon the fault is going to be an electrical one personally, as oil level is ok.
As well as corners, the light comes on when going up and down the drive, over speed ramps etc. so is a bit of a pain in my left ear when the wife gets home.(that bloody ducati you told me to buy etc etc)

You're right about the pressure check being at the pump and not the bearings.

I meant that really.:D

Bike going back to the dealer on Saturday and not coming home until fixed.

'think i will let the wife do the talking:flame:

Cheers

'thought y'all might be interested to know that the fault turned out to be a chafed wire where it comes out of the loom, behind the headlight.
Dealer has fixed, so we are all :D again.

thanks folks.
