749 slipper clutch Morning all, just wondered how much of a job it is to fit a slipper clutch to the 749. Have been thinking about doing this for a while, but also fancied a nice open cover to go with it, have seen JHP have a good offer on their slipper clutch and cage at the minute, so am tempted. But since they're in Coventry and i'm in sunny Manchester, i'm thinking it's a fair way to go to get it fitted, (especially as i'm not sure how long it takes). http://www.ducaticoventry.com/. |
If you know what your doing, (and have the tools/kit!) a clutch change takes what 1/2 hour or so. |
I can't see a price for the slipper clutch on the site - what is it? |
Goto the website, on the top toolbar click on JHP Perfomance, then performance parts, and it's the clutch kit special offer... should be £237.60 going for £196.02 |
That's not a slipper kit. It's the anodised pressure plate, springs and caps and a cover. A slipper will be £500+ and then the cover on top of that. |
yes, i notice my error now :rolleye: looked at the price and got a bit carried away I guess... |
:lol::D |
Thought you'd cocked up somewhere! |

1/2hr to replace a complete clutch? including basket? and then refit and measure clutch pack depth etc? Impressive.. I'd say 30 mins to swap plates, and a hour or two to replace standard clutch assembly with a slipper |
Cover off, six allen headed bolts. Magnet to get all the plates out. One big nut, 6 bolts for the basket. Replace basket, and hub, torque big nut. Build stack, measure height, swap steel plates to obtain correct height if required, fit pressure plate. Replace cover. You Office boys on your £50000p/a! :lol: |
