Insurance, what a nightmare.

having a bit of a nightmare getting insurance, basically im looking at having to pay £1100 for fully comp for a 2003 749s, im not going to get anything less that that as ive phoned up 50 zillion companies. Sux to be me.

they basically told me that because im 24 and have held my licence for under 2 years they cant give me any competitive quotes.

Just filled in there online quotation form tonight dseered, heres hoping its at least under a grand, that i can live with. The bikes in for a 2 yr service right now, so looks like im gonna have to dig deep into the pockets this month. (wife is not too impressed) but this is what its gonna cost for the privledge of owning a Duc at my age and inexperience.

www.premiumchoice.co.uk

if you haven't tried these guys already, call them, ask for Ronnie and tell him you are DSC, a number of us use him including some of my non Duke mates .....

Check out the thread in the insurance section about faxing all the company's with a detailed list.

It nearly halved my insurance and it has a list of about 50 insurance company's you can fax. I have that list here somewhere and the blank template if you want to give it a go - it really worked for me and a few others I know who've tried it here.

Ill give him a phone in the morning Dibble, cheers.
TP i got that template of all the companies, set it all up and im faxing them all right now as i write. So heres hoping i can get a descent quote.

Ok so, using the fax thing i managed to get a quote for £799 which i took.
its still a lot of money but its the best quote i got as all the rest were over £1100.

the company i got it from was called Equity red star.

Don't want to rub salt into the wounds etc., but just had my renewal today for my Multistrada (also with Equity Red Star, via Carole Nash) fully comp for £221 :sing:

There is an advantage of being an old fart!

£300 less is a great deal!

I'm surprised Equity Red Star came up trumps to be honest. I faxed them as well and my best quote came from Laxtons who use Access Underwriting. My quote came from £1100 - £1200 down to £680 with all UK breakdown cover, no claims protected etc etc.

I know someone else on here did the same thing and got their best quote from Laxton's as well. Did you fax them?

Yeah, that and being able to bore all you young pups with tales of how to make your BSA Bantam go faster by boring out the thrunge collector next to the venting spigot...Ah, I remember the good old days etc...

Hmmm... let me think about that.......:frog: :frog: :frog:

At 24 I'd just bought my first house, was catapulted into the world of parenthood and gained a wife - I think that was the order :saint:

misterpink 03-Mar-2005 11:14

Carole Nash/equity red star are - OK have been with them for ages and have had 3 claims in 3 years - all dealt with professionally and swiftly. keep all your documents etc though - paperwork is what they like if you have to make a claim.
