front caliper overhaul is there any firms which service the front calipers as mine seem to be getting a bit tired ( ie sticking and leaking fluid) ive ben told they can not be overhauled is this true if so what calpiers are rec cheers scoot |
Scoot - not sure about overhauling... ...but if you're looking for replacing the calipers "cost-effectively" - I reckon you should look at the Brembo P34 clipers as fitted to the 996R, 998S and 998R. These improve the braking fantastically - I fitted these to my SPS and they are superb!!! They cost around £120 each new, but if you do some breaker searches you might be able to find a used pair for that price? Other than that, its the radial Brembos or AP setups that'll cost you half a house!!!! Good luck Tim |
rattler are you on about the 4 pad calipers which tec moto do for £135 each? |
Calipers I am reliably informed that no service parts are available for Brembo calipers, If you need to overhaul them you will need to purchase replacement units, there not to expensive compared to PFM or AP etc, try Ebay. Good |Luck |
i was told they were not servicable but i thought i would check. so what is rec (brembo ap pfm) let me know because im unsure at present cheers |
You're right about the service kits. The official line is that none are available from either Brembo or Ducati. Race calipers can be returned to the importer for overhaul, but not road calipers. As for replacements. You can't really go wrong with the 4 pad calipers mentioned above. They even come with the pads. These are worth £60 a caliper. Just make sure you have the 65mm mountings and not the earlier 40mm. |
Brakes You might be able to fit the lates calipers from the 998/999 to your bike if the centrs are ok. I find the new 4 pad calipers on my 998s unbeleivable. Good Luck |
