Torque settings for 999

Anyone know of a definitive list of torque settings for the 999, specifically the 999R.

I'm looking at settings for:

Front & rear wheel nuts, i.e. I have 180NM for the rear wheel nut
Rear sprocket nuts

etc, etc, etc...............

The front is probably the same as the ealier bikes. 67Nm +/- 5Nm.
I'd go for 43Nm on the sprocket nuts.
sorry, don't have the manual with me ;)

Cheers Neil,

Expectant of a wet BH Weekend I'm doing some detailed cleaning & degreasing:lol::lol:

The rear sprocket is shocking.

Any advice on a good degreaser. Also, if I remove the sprocket from the wheel is there an order in which I should torque up the 5 nuts..........going round opposite to opposite??

If the sprocket is off the bike you can't beat Gunk or Jizer. They're too strong though to use when in situ around the chain. Not good for the grease in the pins. :smug:
Muc-off or Wurth is good for general cleaning. work it a little with an old toothbrush if it's stubborn.
When you refit the sprocket, nip everything down in a star pattern, then torque up in the same way.
Have fun

Sprocket's off.............you sure they're only torqued to 43..............phew!!

I'll give the sprocket a good soak andclean up round the cush...etc

Same torque settings for the rear disk???????????

Should be looking good for the next Berks/Oxon meet next Sunday :smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug:

Hey Everton, you not going to takethe opportunity of a larger rear sprocket then? 38??

Im doing this this week, obviously needed a longer chain so ive gone for a gold erv2, and ill lengthen the wheel base aswell while im at it.

have fun.

andyb the 38 tooth fitts with the standard chain and shortens the wheel base

Andy..... 38 rear..... 14 front works for me
No more links needed...... just a new soft link :saint:

nathanhu 30-May-2004 21:37

why do you need a new soft link?

dave w 30-May-2004 21:44

Nathan....... when you remove the front sprocket you have to split the chain as there is no clearance to remove it...... Hence new soft link.
