Clutch noise ? Hi,when i am a little slow with clutch release i hear/feel a grating noise/vibration,if i disengage the clutch quickly it is ok.Also there seemes to be a lot of black dust on the right fottpeg area?????:puzzled: |
Welcome to dry clutches! |
Yep sounds about right for a ducati clutch |
Smallboy, sound like it needs a good clean out. All the dust will act as an abrasive and stop the plates from "slipping" as when you let out the clutch slowly. In traffic can be difficult no doubt. Whip off the cover, undo the spring and collar bolts, remove the plain plate then the friction plate clean them free of dust and put them back in the exact order you took them of in . May find the pushrod comes away with the pressure plate, thats the first one after releasing the springs bolts . 4D |
It is very straightforward, as fordie says. Whilst you're at it, examine the friction plates to make sure there's still some friction material on them (there's not a great deal of thickness when new, mind, so don't expect millimetres of the stuff), and make sure the basket grooves aren't excessively notched. What's "excessive"? Well. it's all a matter of judgement... :) And don't overtighten the clutch spring allen screws when you refit the pressure plate. [Edited on 30-5-2005 by moto748] |
When, when, when will they make a nice wet clutch? |
they do but you'll have to buy a monster or SS to get one |
