1200 Ducati Any one know how Ducati propose to get the 999 to 1200cc , and if it can be done to the 998 with new pistons/crank , or has it been done already , i heard a bout a 1052 or something Ducati is it poss on the 998 range to go bigger than std Just think a 998R with 1200cc :bouncy::bouncy::o:o |
I think it's the bore of the 999R motor with the stroke of the 999 motor gets you 1200ish - a parts bin special in other words. I guess it would work with the 998, but fuelling would need setting up properly etc. Easy for the factory to sort, not so easy/cheap for Joe Bloggs... |

Easy /cheap are words that dont go with Ducati's , but its possible but then anything is poss with enough money |
Just done my maths, and using the bore of the 999R and the stroke of the 999 would give 1080cc. Not sure where they'll find the extra 120cc - maybe an even bigger bore than the 999R? |

maybe the stroke frm a 996 or 748/9...........i know jhp has done this all ready! |
Nice short stroke / big bore motor - higher revving as well no doubt, yet more hammer for those O's and C's. Couple of old submarine batteries to crank her over - and forget all about bump starts  What's the current max limit on valve sizes then - that's where the power sap will be if they retain the same bore... |
contact chris at cjsperformance as i beleive hes taken a testastretta engine out to 1100+ already, rather quick engine i beleive |

Do they have a website ? |
according to Eurosport they are going to present their case at the next WSB meeting. Someone better tell Troy Bayliss that he needs 1200! |
ST3 or 1000DS crank has 71.5mm stroke I think, with 999 bores of 104mm gives 1215cc. |
