Spyware Doctor Sucks..... We have a huge data base of users for our software recentluy we recived reports that this software was causing our software not to function correctly we contacted PC tools (spyware doctor developers) concerning this problem rather than fix the problem with their software they replied Paul, Thank you for your patience, this problem appears to be affecting windows 64bit customers, there is not immediate fix for this issue, however as a work around simply shutting down Spyware Doctor before running Alcohol. Users can then launch Spyware Doctor after Alcohol has initialized. If you require further assistance on this specific request, please reply to this email. Kind Regards, Brian Wu Technical Support Team Leader PC Tools Customer Support Services This is hardly a solution if you had their software installed and then installed ours and their software removed critical components of our software causing our software not to function correctly who are you going to go with? them because they are a so called spyware developer or us who have over 7 years development in our software ? people are paranoid if it says its a spyware detectore then you will belive it is protecting you on the face of their reply i would say this is not the case, so do not take everything at face value free or not. |
And all the Mozilla products (Firefox, Thunderbird, etc...) can be downloaded for free from http://www.mozilla.com :) |
I've been using AVG for some time now and it seems to be fine (from what I can see). I'd be very interested in finding some safe method of doing a registry check so has anyone out there found and used a product for this successfully? I'm always wary that downloadable stuff could be full of just the sort of cr*p I'm trying to rid my PC of  :) Paul |
"Don't use any Ashampoo product" is all I'll say! You have to register an email address with them to activate their software, and all I got was tons of spam after that! Luckily I was wise enough to use a throwaway webmail address so I didn't drown in spam. |
Linux. You know it makes sense. No need for AV. No need for spyware tools. :) And it's all free! Reliable, stable....etc. |
