Hi all, and let me say that i am probably the most excited person on the forum today

Hi all, the above title says it all really.

I'm a 36 year old family man with a gorgeous wife and three beautiful daughters (and a cat). The reason I am like an 8 year old on Xmas eve today is that I have just adopted a new daughter - pic below - who I am very much looking forward to nurturing, cleaning, stroking and tucking up in her brick built bed. Paid for her today and after a thorough fettling, she'll be home next week.

I am fairly new to biking even though I have had a passion for many years. Mechnical novice but with lots of enthusiasm, my main summer pastime will be (family duties taken care of) sweeping Lincolnshire and East Nottinghamshire roads.

My first bike when I passed my test about 4 years ago was an Fazer 600 which at 98bhp was a mile away from the 40bhp GS500 i learned on. Then last year I switched to a CBR600rr which at 118bhp (or similar depending upon the mag you read) which was much lighter and nimbler and was a complete hoot but, alas, whilst she was stunning in Hannspree colours, she was always going to be a stop gap.

And then there is my new 1098 (OK an 07 but you wouldnt know it). It was a choice between a Blade and the Duke but as soon as a clapped eyes on her I knew she had to come home.

I havent test ridden her and I am a little intimidated but I am hoping that if I treat her right, she will treat me with with equal respect. I hope to learn lots from you more experienced folks and if there are any of you who live near Newark, Notts then let me know and the fun can start. You'll know doubt hear me on the A1 heading towards the countryside anyway.

Here's the bike timeline

And now

The warm weather really cant arrive quick enough.:D :D :D :D :D

Welcome m8, and i shall have a J2O am sure there will be others along to welcome you to the fold, but as its the first DD race of the season down at brands a lot of us are down there racing or spectating.

If you need a nice set of termis end cans for that baby ( which you know your do ) i have a set for sale at the moment :)

TheDrunkenBakers 09-Mar-2012 21:26

Thanks for the welcome chaps and for the offer of the Termis, Mr Bionicle.

Alas, one of the major attractions of the bike is that she is absolutely bog standard. Just how I like em, as they came out of the factory. If I could afford a 1098s or higher which came with factory fitted Ohlins then no probs.

Messing about with my bike would seem like taking Kylie out of her golden hotpants (yes, you can all remember that video) and putting her ass into Rab C Nesbits Y fronts.

Welcome, mines a Southern Comfort with a dash of ginger thanks:D

As for end cans, well Termi's and Ducati's go together like Kylie and a pair of golden hotpants;) you know it makes sense:D

Wash my mouth out for saying this, but I really like that CBR6 in Hanspree colours.... one of the more subtle race-reps..
