View Full Version : 998 Clutch bits ?
Hoping to strip the clutch on my 998 again ! ,but this time pull the basket out ,is there anything strange i should know Nut size's would be helpful , i have pulled the plates out & cleaned twice already but this time is gonna be a full strip out in prep for a new clutch ( Slpper maybe !!!!!)
Thanks !:D
I think the clutch drum nut is 32 or a 34mm, I am pretty sure it's a 32...
The hardest bit will be getting that bugger off, dunno what the standard clutch torque setting is, but the slipper needs 195ft/lb torque from memory
Youll need a proper clutch drum holding tool!!

Made out of an old set of friction plates, a welder and a piece of bar.
32mm socket for the clutch centre nut and a 13mm on for the basket ones.
You'll need a holding tool as already suggested. Torque on the centre nut is 186Nm, the basket bolts are 33Nm(?) Use loctite on them all.
If you fit a slipper, depending upon brand, the new centre nut could be a 30mm jobbie.
Aint got an old set of plates !!! ,this will be the first set managed to get 7.5tho miles from the oe ones with regular stripping & cleaning !
Anyone got an old set no longer in use i could use to make a tool ,will cover any costs ????
Thanks for the help so far :bouncy:

Ive got some old plates kicking about if you still need some.....
Nice looking tool 748mart. but it won't hold the basket. If you were to sandwich a couple of old frictonplates between them, then it would.
Toto I've a factory clutch holding tool you are welcome to use. The only problem would be the postage. It cost me £30.00 and it only travelled 10 miles or so. Its about 3 or 4 ks
Thanks all :D
Jon do you have any pics ,if i could get a lookie at it i might be able to make my own , if it looks possable then the pastage would not be a problem , failing that i could make one using old plates
Right i got some pic's from Jon (thanks) & have decided to make my own
So all ineed is some OLD clutch plates both types
Can anyone help , will cover any costs !
No one got any old plates ????????????????????
