I too own one of the most stylish, best sounding bikes on the planet. :D

I know of at least four others on the board with similarly good taste!

FE counts too!

Ah....

I don't want to seem sniffy but I don't think that the FE does count as a Superlight, although obviously it shared some of the parts...

More a model in its own right

Anyway, as we're only up to 4 Superlights perhaps we should count it anyway !

Is this all ? any more out there ?

There's mine too. Although it doesn't look too much like an SL anymore.... Doesn't even have the badge.... "Sniff"

Great bikes.
I've had three along the way.
I found the best one to be the MK1 with the polished ally marvic wheels.
It had been tuned to quite a high level by baines before I aquired it. Also had dual oil coolers and other nice goodies on it, sounded really awsome, you could feel the ground vibrate beneath it.:D:D

I'm another idiot with an FE, and they are definitely superlights !
Mine is #229 with the 'standard' silmotos, which noise-tested louder than the termi's on my black beast.
I've just decided to sell the FE (have loads of bikes) and am having second thoughts already after a nice ride to scrub in the new rear tyre !

FE's may be SuperLights or may not be..
Eitherway....I think the FE's are special enough to be in their own grouping...and will be more and more special as time goes on...just like the SuperLights...
I own FE #423...

I've got a 94 SL MkIII. No idea on the number. Dynojet Stage II or III (can't recall), Laser race cans (desperately seeking something std for MOTs!), polished rims, headers and top yolk, modified airbox with K&N. Had it three years. Did you all knwo there is a Superlight group on Yahoo. Also little known fact is in my company there are three of us (circa 500 staff) with SLs, well one in Holland and an SP in Cailifornia which is basically a Superlight but with a dual seat. Has the carbon bits on it

Agree with you Ali that's it's Fecking gorgeous-but disagree on colour-early Superlights should be yellow with white writing-bloody lovely.

Thanks all for the compliments, got this bike when it was in a mess and restored it. Suspect that it started life as red, I repainted it in yellow. The original MK 1 for europe was all red, with some 300 Mk ones in yellow going to the states.
Restoration quite cheap thanks to ebay:)

Aha, I too thought that all the Mark I Superlights came in red, but I did not want to challenge the mighty Monty.

(by 'mighty' I mean 'old')

The earliest picture I can find of one is when they appeard at shows in 1991 and it's red - but maybe they did both (red and the faster Yellow colour;) )

Have checked Ian Falloon's restoration guide, there were 952 Mk 1's built, of which 300 were done in yellow for the states, also that this was the first time yellow was used by ducati on recent models.

755 Mk 2's were made

756 Mk 3's " "

850 Mk 4's

309 Mk 5's

800 FE's

I have a Superlight V 242. Red of course. Standard except for some SIL Moto cans. No pictures as yet, as I have not got one of those new fangled digie thingies.
Should be at Castle Commbe on the 4th.

Mines a 900FE No. 234 owned from new (1999) and bought from UK Dealer.
Does everything very well this bike, but sadly will have to go this year as i'm making a major changes to my life and only have time and space for one baby.
Anyone seriously looking for a good all rounder, should not miss the opportunity to make me a offer before i get organised and sell on E-bay.
This FE has been fettled by some well known Ducati Specialists Tony Brancato - Two/four Italia - JHP - Moto Marino and has a full service history.
Cheers JR.

I suppose I better add myself to this list

Superlight V red #021

I've searched the web and there's no Superlight I to V registers or registries. Would people mind if I started one, using info from here as the starting point. http://www.900sl.com is available for a few pounds on ukreg (in fact .co.uk, .net and all the others too). I know Edwyn has the FE register but I can't find anything else. What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea Ziggi.

Don't be too disappointed if you only end up with a few though.
Edwyun's register 'only' has 160 out of the 800 FE's that were made and that is for the last of the line.

Thanks Frank

Details... where do I start!

This was one of two bikes used for an article in Performance Bike Magazine April & July 1993. Severely modified by Baines Racing with twin spark plug gas-flowed head conversion, Arias high compression racing pistons, K&N filters, Dynojet, twin oil coolers, oil pressure guage, wide bore carbon high level pipes, Proflex rear shock and Proflex fork springs, Lockheed racing front brake master cylinder, Goodridge hoses, remote racing hydaulic clutch master cylinder, uprated twin head coils, uprated dry clutch plates, twin headlamp conversion - bored yet... all in all a bit of a girls bike!

I'll try and work out how to post some better pics.

WoW - bit of a beast then !!!!

I actually have the mag you refer to and only read it a few weeks ago - I can scan it if you wish.

Piccies....Easy v Medium

If you click the reply button at the bottom of the last post ("not the post reply box" in the normal quick reply).....

You'll get a response box that has an attachment section at the bottom - simply search for your file from the browse box.

Or - you can upload your file to a server and link to it here using a little bit of code:

[ img ] FILE NAME HERE [ /img ]..........no spaces in the square brackets

will actually show a file here instead of just a hyperlink, so here is me havng fun at Cadwell on a too long ago DSC trackday

OK, Ok, just seen your post Yvonne. The Superlight register is nearly ready. I can open it up for submissions but it's a bit flakey and I need another nights code to make it stable for people to start submitting.

I have plans to attack most of the worlds Ducati Forums using Google to translate for me :)

http://www.900SL.com now up and running plus email to register@900SL.com

It's nearly ready!

PS: if anyone wants to be a superlight register administrator let me know. You'll get an email when someone submits and a link to the new data for verification. You'll also be able to write articles and general stuff using just your browser to publish straight to the site. I've got 1 person already - 1 or 2 more won't hurt.

Cheers

Been looking for more pics... they are all a bit last year!

The SL has been having essential maintenance this winter, I got new pistons for Christmas (better than diamonds... more fun, more expensive and just as sparkly!).

There wouldn't have been any point in talking photos at the end of last summer, you wouldn't have seen the bike, just clouds of smoke.

I'm not allowed to run it in, apparently I can't be trusted... blokes, what do they know!

Iconic944ss

Run-in isnt the most interesting chore in the world anyways - why not let your 'better-half' do it for you :)

Certainly would be nice to see your beasty in the flesh one day - but, I guess there's about as much chance of you coming to Cadwell / Croft as there is of me coming down to Brands again (lol - last time was about 12 years ago !!!).
