What type is best for a 916, ?

Well, I've just got a set of R&G bungs, which were flaming expensive and will not fit without worrk to the clamp plates. Reckon they will be OK on a low speed off but not so sure at higher speeds. Reckon I will have other things to worry about though. Going to fit them in an attempt to protect the clutch.

Crash bungs are fine for the track where there are no potholes, drain covers etc and the bike will slide cleanly.

Different story on the road. If they snag on something they can cause serious damage to the frame or whatever they're anchored to.

Don't! As an engineer I have never been fully convinced they would protect rather than cause more damage.

That said I am looking at designing a set that mount onto an extended engine bolt but with large diametre mushrooms rather than the tubular type normally used.


Watch this space - tho I still remain sceptical.
